LATEST UPDATE. 28.3.13 – Lunch with Charlotte at Lake Crackenback Resort has reached capacity. If you are hoping to attend a luncheon or dinner we can recommend the Festival Lunch on Saturday at midday with Sue Pieters-Hawke, or the Gala Dinner: On the Trail of the Silver Brumby with Honor Auchinleck on Saturday night at 6.30pm. Held in the beautiful location of Thredbo, both will include gourmet meals and a presentation by the authors.

Author Karen Viggers will join Jesse Blackadder at “The First Woman and Last Dog in Antarctica” event on Saturday 30th March (3.00pm), and will discuss how her bestselling book ‘The Lightkeeper’s Wife’ was inspired by her time in Antarctica working on seals.

Do you dream of being an author? Have you written a manuscript but don’t know what to do with it? Do you need advice about the publishing industry?

In this practical workshop, Aleesah gives advice to new and aspiring authors about getting published. Aleesah discusses how the publishing industry works and how to make submissions. She talks about contracts and agents, manuscript assessments and the value of writers groups and networking. Learn about the many and varied opportunities that exist for you to start getting published – Duration 3 hours.

Literary Luncheon – “Lunch and the Trout Opera”

Journalist and author Matthew Condon shares his passion for writing and his love for the Monaro landscape. Reflected in his best selling book “The Trout Opera”.

Note: If weather is inclement the luncheon will be inside the winery.

Festival Lunch – “Hazel: My Mother’s Story”

A Literary Lunch with Author Sue Pieters-Hawke who will discuss her intimate, beautiful biography of her mother Hazel Hawke. Enjoy a gourmet lunch with a glass of wine in a wonderful mountain setting.

“Sex, Lies and Bonsai” – with author Lisa Walker
Where: Thredbo Alpine Hotel Schuss Barr

An entertaining session with award winning author Lisa Walker who will discuss her new novel, a quirky love story about a shy erotic writer. Lisa has worked as a ski guide in the Snowy Mountains and has a degree in zoology and masters in natural resource management.

Gala Dinner “On the Trail of the Silver Brumby”

When: Saturday 30 March 6:30pm for 7:00pm

Cost: $75 per person

Your host Honor will talk about her book “A Daughter Remembers” and “On the Trail of the Silver Brumby” featuring her mothers, iconic Australian writer Elyne Mitchell of “Silver Brumby” fame. The evening will be a celebration of the centenary birthday of Elyne Michell.

Poet’s Breakfast

Join published poet Lizz Murphy for breakfast. She will read from her latest book “Portraits”, then hold an open mic session. Everyone welcome.

Author Charlotte Wood and award winning executive chef of Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa, Greg Pieper, will team up to present this exciting lunch on Easter Sunday that has been inspired by two chapters featured in Charlotte’s new book, “Love and Hunger: Thoughts on the gift of food”.

9:30am – 11:00am Children’s Celebration – The Art of Storytelling
Through hands-on writing and drawing exercises, Paula Boer, author of the “Brumbies” series and artist Jan Owens will help children develop an illustrated short story which may be submitted for the children’s creative story competition.

11:30am – 12:30pm Unicorns & Fairies Party – Aleesah Darlison
Come dressed as your favourite fairytale character and join Aleesah for a celebration of unicorns, fairies and magic! Includes craft activities, games, nail painting, readings from Aleesah’s ‘Unicorn Riders’ series,prizes and much more. For ages 4 and over. Duration 1 hour.

1:30pm – 3:30pm Creating Diaries and Memory Books – Aleesah Darlison
Based on Aleesah’s immensely popular ‘Totally Twins’ diary series, this session shows children how to create their very own diaries and memory books. A range of writing techniques are used to prompt memories and record them. Includes a writing and craft component. Participants should bring 3 photos. All other materials supplied. Duration 2 hours.
