SMRWF 2017

Snowy Mountains Readers Writers Children’s Festival 2017

Sunday 12th March will see a carnival Dreaming Big is Fun in the Banjo Paterson Park Jindabyne as the enticing 4th Children’s Reading and Writing Festival gets under way from 10.00am to 4.30pm.

The festival will cater for all age groups from preschool to high school, with interactive sessions, workshops and an authors’ panel discussion.

Who’ll be there?

Well-known children authors such as Jackie Hosking, Mark Carthew, Katrina Roe, Wendy Neville, Paula Boer, Sulari Gentill and Jack Heath will run interactive sessions packed fill with fun ideas. The little ones will have the opportunity to dance, sing, dress up and make masks. The older children can join a number of exciting writing workshops.

Just one example is Jack Heath’s Countdown to Danger, a fast, furious session about how a chronic ear infection turned him into a writer, why blockbuster books are more fun that block buster movies, why writer’s block is a myth perpetuated by current affairs shows and why Romeo and Juliet is the worst thing ever published. Jack is an award winning author of ten exciting books for young people. His books are sold over the world and have been translated into French and Vietnamese. He loves to teach creative writing, share his love of literature and has helped thousands of teenagers get hooked on reading.

There will also be other entertainment; face painting, singing, dancing and large outdoor games. A highlight for younger children will be Miss Helen’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Bring along your teddy bear and join in the games, songs, rhymes, stories and treats.

There is a great opportunity for the children of the Snowy Monaro to meet and interact with top authors in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, that doesn’t come along very often and it is all free.

So bring the family to the festival and have your children learn about reading and writing and have fun at the same time.

The Jindabyne Lions will be there with a barbeque lunch, enjoy a sausage or steak sandwich under the trees by the lake while your kids are having fun, engaging with well-known authors.

Authors’ books will be for sale and signing.

Keep this day Sunday 12th March free for your kids.
